Fabien Barthez (born June 28, 1971) is a retired French football player, known for his role as a goalkeeper. He was born in Lavelanet, France, and holds French citizenship. During his career, Barthez played for clubs such as Olympic Marseille, Monaco, and Manchester United. He also represented the French national team, earning multiple accolades in soccer competitions such as the FIFA World Cup and UEFA European Championship.
Barthez has been recognized with various individual awards including Lev Yashin Prize for the best goalkeeper of the World Cup in 1998 and Ligue 1 Goalkeeper of the Year in the same year.
