Everist Health is a Michigan based medical diagnosis technology company that creates device and technology for detecting early warnings for cardiovascular diseases (CVD). The company’s Angiodefender technology uses non-invasive sensors and algorithms to detect early stage CVD in patients.
The company also works in creating more awareness of risks related to cardiovascular disease. The company operates a web-based Vascular Age Calculator (VAC) which uses age, weight, blood pressure, glucose level, and other medical factors in determining approximate “heart age” of the people. The calculator is free to use on any internet connected browser.
Angiodefender is a device that can detect the early onset of cardiovascular disease and atherosclerosis before any noticeable symptoms appear. The procedure is non-invasive and takes around 20 minutes for a diagnosis to complete. The assessments help patients to change to a healthier lifestyle before medical treatments are required.
Registered medical practitioners administer the system. An expandable cuff connected to the device is wrapped above the elbow of the patient. The device does a series of tests with rests period in-between. The system begins with a blood pressure test followed with additional tests to analyze the health and elasticity of the endothelium membrane which lines blood vessels in the human body. The device also measures flow-mediated dilation (%FMD), the difference in diameter of fully dilated and resting blood vessels. The test results are used to create a health report to determine the heart health of the patients.
Steve Everist founded the company in 2002 and is headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The company has worked with a range of devices and products for other diseases like diabetes and neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.
