Elena Yurievna Malyashenko was born on January 1, 1977 in Krivoy Rog. Her father Yuriy Viktorovich Malyashenko (born May 27, 1939) was a metallurgist; her mother Nadezhda Fedorovna Malyashenko (born August 31, 1942) was an economist who served as a manager of a savings bank.

After finishing school, she entered Krivoy Rog Economics Institute of Kyiv Institute of National Economy and qualified as a financier-economist.
