Elabuga (tat. Alabuga (Alabuğa) is a city (since 1780) in the Republic of Tatarstan of Russia. The administrative center of Yelabuga district, forms the urban settlement of the city of Yelabuga.
It is part of the Naberezhnye Chelny agglomeration and the Nizhnekamsk Territorial Production Complex (TPC).
One of the oldest settlements in Tatarstan with a 1000-year history. The millennium of the city was celebrated in 2007.
Relief
The relief of the Yelabuga district is a stepped undulating plain (height 53-240 m), dissected by river valleys and ravines. The Kama River flows through the district with tributaries Vyatka, Toima, Tanayka. The soils are mainly light gray and gray forest, sod-podzolic, brown-gray.
Agricultural industry
The agricultural sector is one of the important branches of the Yelabuga district. To date, 11 agricultural enterprises are operating and developing in the district: 8 - limited liability companies, 1 - closed joint stock company, 1 - open joint stock company, 1 - agricultural production cooperative. 35 peasant (farm) farms have also been registered.
The specifics of agriculture in the Yelabuga district are peculiar. For 9-10 months, the main source of income is animal husbandry. 9 farms of the district are engaged in the production of livestock products. Along with grain growing, vegetable growing and fodder production are intensively developing in the area. Fish farming begins to develop.
