Founded in 1985 by Tim Draper, Draper Associates is a venture capital firm which focuses their investments in startups seeking seed and early-stage funding. The firm operates from Silicon Valley. Since its conception, it has invested in startups from the following sectors: consumer technology, financial technology, healthcare, manufacturing, as well as educational technology and government technology.
The firm is part of the Draper Venture Network, which is a network of venture capital firm established in 1990. As of February 2019, the network includes more than 22 firms around the world, operating in more than 60 cities.
Draper Associates’ last funding series – which was its fifth round – amassed $190 million in April 2016 . Prior to 2013, Tim Draper is the sole investor in startups that are funded by Draper Associates. This fifth funding round also marks the first time external investors are involved in raising the firm’s fund.
