Diocletian (22 December 244 – 3 December 311) was a Roman politician and monarch, best known as the father of Maximian, Galerius, and Galeria Valeria. He was born in the ancient city of Solin and held citizenship of Ancient Rome. His occupations included being both a politician and a monarch. Diocletian was married to Prisca, an empress.

He authored the Edict on Maximum Prices, which sought to address the economic difficulties faced during his reign. Diocletian died in Split, Croatia, leaving behind his legacy as a ruler in the Roman Empire.
