Dean Kamen (born April 5, 1951) is an American inventor, entrepreneur, and founder of DEKA, a research and development company . He was born in Long Island and holds citizenship in the United States. Kamen is the son of Jack Kamen, a comic book illustrator.

Kamen was educated at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Georgia Institute of Technology. In 2005, he received an induction into the National Inventors Hall of Fame.
