Abstract

We propose to develop a directional side-projecting fragment warhead for the Hypervelocity Projectile (HVP). The warhead takes advantage of the HVPs ability to maneuver, including roll, to deliver a dense pattern of fragments within a narrow beam, providing a much greater number of impacts for enhanced lethality. The warhead makes use of technologies developed in several recent advanced-development warhead programs, including low-density, high-strength composites and directional fragment-projection schemes.Approved for Public Release | 18-MDA-9710 (6 Jul 18)
