What is Cronos Chain?

Cronos is the first Ethereum-compatible blockchain network built on Cosmos SDK technology. An open-source and permission-less Layer 1 chain, Cronos aims to massively scale the DeFi, GameFi, and overall Web3 user community by providing builders with the ability to instantly port apps and crypto assets from other chains while benefiting from low transaction fees, high throughput, and fast finality.

Cronos (CRO) is the native cryptocurrency token of Cronos Chain — a decentralized, open-source blockchain developed by the Crypto.com payment, trading and financial services company.In its current state, the total supply of CRO is 30 billion, which gives it an element of scarcity. The majority of this, roughly 25 billion, is in circulation. The remaining supply has been dedicated to distributing staking rewards as well as for ecosystem development.

CRO is also connected with the Crypto.org chain, a separate stand-alone network.
