Constantine the Great, born on February 27, 274, was a notable figure in ancient Rome and the Byzantine Empire, holding occupations such as politician and military personnel. He was born in Niš and passed away on May 22, 337, in Nicomedia.
Constantine founded the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the city of Constantinople. He was the owner of the Black Madonna of Częstochowa and the author of the Edict of Milan.
His parents were Constantius Chlorus and Helena. Constantine was married to Fausta and had six known children - Constantius II, Constans, Constantine II (emperor), Crispus, Constantina, and Helena (wife of Julian). In addition to his immediate family, Constantine had several relatives, including Julius Constantius, Flavius Dalmatius, Flavia Julia Constantia, and Anastasia (sister of Constantine I).
