Chiara Marletto is a quantum physicist at Oxford University working on Constructor Theory. Marletto is working with the creator of Constructor Theory, David Deutsch, as a Junior Research Fellow at Wolfson College, Oxford and a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Simon Benjamin's research group in the materials department at Oxford University.
Chiara Marletto has a DPhil in mathematics from the Mathematical Institute of Oxford University. Chiara Marletto graduated cum laude with a bachelor degree in physical engineering from Politecnico di Torino. She would later also graduate cum laude with a master of science degree in physical engineering from Politecnico di Torino.
Chiara Marletto is working on a theory, called Constructor Theory (originally proposed by David Deutsch), attempting to explain how quantum and classical physics information are related to each other in exact terms. Marletto is using Constructor Theory in an attempt to use fundamental physics to formulate the logic of self-reproduction, natural selection, and design of biological adaptations.
Chiara Marletto received the Graduate Prize from Merton College in 2012. She received the Optime award for academic excellence from the Unione Industriale di Torino in 2011. She also received the Ing. Vittorino Pollo e Dott.Ssa Zita Pollo award for academic excellence from Fondazione Giovanni Agnelli in 2010.
