The majestic brick church with a complex of church buildings is located in the center of Drohobych, near the town hall , at the address: st. Truskavets, 2.
From the history of the temple
The wooden church of the Holy Trinity in Drohobych was built in 1555 , not far from the current church.
The present church was built in 1690 as a Roman Catholic church, and the adjacent premises were completed much later as a monastery of the Carmelite Fathers .
In 1795 , Emperor Joseph II liquidated the monastery, nationalizing the property.
In 1808 , the Russian ( Ukrainian ) community bought a church and premises for the Greek Catholic Church and school from the government of the Austrian Empire .
This spiritual complex was later placed under the care of the Basilian Fathers , but it remained the property of the city.
The church was renovated in 1894 - 1905 . The iconostasis was painted in 1909 by the talented Galician painter Modest Sosenko .
After the transfer of the Carmelite church oo. To the Basilians, baroque ornaments were removed from it, the walls were painted and decorated with icons of saints, two Gothic arrow towers were removed, and two naves were completed.
