Carmelita Hinton (1890-1983) was an American teacher and the founder of The Putney School in Vermont. She was born in Omaha, Nebraska and held citizenship in the United States. Hinton was educated at Bryn Mawr College, a private women's liberal arts college in Pennsylvania.
