Carl Auer von Welsbach (1858-1929) was an Austrian physicist and chemist. Born in Vienna, he studied at Heidelberg University under the guidance of his doctoral advisor, Robert Bunsen. Auer von Welsbach contributed significantly to the fields of physics and chemistry, and was the founder of Auergesellschaft.
Throughout his career, Auer von Welsbach received several awards, including being inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2011. He was the son of Alois Auer, and he passed away in Mölbling in 1929.
