Cignex was founded in 2000. It was founded by Harish Ramachandran, Manish Sheladia, Munwar Shariff and Amit Babaria. In 2006, venture capital firm Basil Partners invested in Cignex. In April 2010 Cignex formed a joined venture with Datamatics Global Services and merged AGS Technology to form Cignex Holding Corporation.
Jeff Colvin from AGS became chief executive at that time.
In 2011, the company was acquired by Datamatics Global Services and changed its name to CIGNEX Datamatics.
Vijay Iyer became chief executive in May 2014.
David Schmittlein joined the board of directors in 2015.
CIGNEX Datamatics uses marketing terms like open source, Web portal, enterprise content management and big data. The company claims to have more than 450 enterprise implementations globally. It has 22 offices across 9 countries including UK, Germany, India, Singapore and Australia.
The company markets a Franchise Management Platform (FMP), Digital Employee Engagement Platform (DEEP), and Reputation Management Platform (RMP).
