Bruce Murray (born November 30, 1931 in New York City) was a scientist known for his work in space-related fields. He served as the Director of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and was one of the founders of The Planetary Society.
Murray was educated at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he developed a keen interest in the study of planets and their natural satellites. Throughout his career, he contributed to our understanding of various celestial bodies, which led to the naming of Murray Ridge on Mars in his honor.
In addition to his scientific achievements, Bruce Murray has been immortalized in the form of Asteroid 4957 Brucemurray. Murray passed away on August 29, 2013, in Oceanside, California. He was a relative of Tom Foley.
