A SBIR Phase I contract was awarded to BlueRISC, Inc. in February, 2019 for $149,995.0 USD from the U.S. Department of Defense and United States Air Force.
Avionics systems are becoming increasingly exposed to a wide variety of indirect threat vectors across the various stages of their development, deployment and maintenance. Anti-virus tools generally do not detect malware targeting these and other types of specialized embedded systems. BlueRISC’s proposed solution provides a fundamentally new approach to detecting the presence of an avionics cyber-threat based on a novel graph-theoretical framework . Unlike traditional approaches that are reactive, BlueRISC’s solution has solid theoretical underpinnings enabling a detection capability that is flexible, adaptive, and that is not relying on signatures or strict rule based cyber-threat definitions.
