Samy Karim on the Unchained podcast answered questions from journalist Laura Shin about criticism of the project due to frequent hacking incidents and transaction problems.
When asked about the number of hacks in their ecosystem, Sami Karim acknowledged that there was no way to prevent the threat.
"There have definitely been a lot of exploits, but they're not unique to BSC. I think it [BSC] has become a very attractive target for black hats and other attackers because of the large number of new users, the large TVL in many DeFi protocols. There is really no way to prevent this. Only improved user literacy will help."
At the same time, he noted that there are methods for early detection of hacker attacks. On behalf of a user unhappy with the deployment of smart contracts, Laura Shin asked about problems with transactions on the BSC. Sami Karim explained that the failed transactions were due to "a lot of problems" with scaling. He also talked about problems with data indexing and design limitations in the EVM architecture.
"The current situation is that the tools and infrastructure have reached a level where we can support the current transaction volume, even if it reaches 13 million daily transactions, or even more."
In November, analyst firm Elliptic reported $2.5 billion in losses due to DeFi marketplace crime on Binance Smart Chain. DeFi bZx project had $55 million in crypto assets stolen that same month. Attackers hacked the private keys to manage contracts in Polygon and Binance Smart Chain. Binance Smart Chain reported in October that the total number of transactions in the ecosystem reached a record 1.5 billion, with 10 million transactions processed daily on the network.
