The Air Force has identified the need for a flexible tool for integrating and testing real and simulated IoT edge devices and telemetry in the context of DoD mission use cases. To address this need, Architecture Technology Corporation (ATCorp) proposes an innovative software technology called Integrated Simulation Test and Analysis for IoT (InstaIoT), which will provide IoT system evaluators a powerful tool to test and evaluate the capability and performance as well as security of various IoT architectures. The InstaIoT approach will overcome three major limitations of the existing approaches for the target scenarios: 1) inability of the existing Digital Twins tools to effectively model IoT systems utilizing both simulated and real devices; 2) lack of functions for high-fidelity modeling of devices and operations supporting the AF installations and use cases; 3) need of a comprehensive capability to model, test and assess end-to-end applications including both functional, performance metrics and security postures of the IoT systems. Leveraging a cloud-centric ecosystem, InstaIoT will be developed to provide an easy-to-use and cost-efficient test harness for a variety of civilian and military IoT systems.
