Abstract

Switches and routers, which are often combined into a single, physical device to reduce size, weight, and power (SWaP), are the technology that underpins all modern tactical communications. The Air Force needs rugged switch/router devices that can withstand the extreme environmental demands of military aircraft and that meet Department of Defense (DoD) information assurance (IA) requirements.   Architecture Technology Corporation (ATCorp) has developed the CRR-1000 as a firmware load for the OnTime Networks CR-6200-series of flight-qualified switch/router hardware. The resultant switch/router meets or exceeds all Air Force requirements for interoperability with legacy internet-protocol (IP) equipment and it provides radio-aware routing optimizations for both legacy and next-generation radios/waveforms including 4G/5G/LTE, A3M, ANW2, BGAN, CDL, MPU5/Wave Relay, ROVER, SATCOM, StreamCaster, TSM-X, WiFi, and more.  In addition to meeting or exceeding temp/vibe/shock/altitude/electrical requirements of military aircraft, the CR-6200/CRR-1000 switch/router meets or exceeds DoD IA requirements. This proposal outlines further R&D to extend the CRR-1000 router to meet the next-generation requirements of advanced routing for a range of Air Force aircraft.
