Andy Puddicombe is the co-founder of Headspace, a platform for guided meditation and mindfulness. He is a former Buddhist monk.
Puddicombe was born in London and raised in Bristol. His first career path choice was sports science, which he pursued as a degree for atfrom De Montfort University. When Puddicombe was 22twenty-two, he suffered through the deaths of several loved ones in a series of accidents. These events ultimately resulted in his pursualstudy of Buddhism, which he turned to in grief. He dropped out of his program of study and traveled to the Himalayas, where he stayed for over a decade as a practicing monk. Some days, he would meditate for up to sixteen hours. Puddicombe returned home in 2005 and started running his own a business in London for, teaching and practicing meditation. One of his clients was Rich Pierson, who worked in advertising at the time and dealt with a lot of stress. The two formed a partnership after Pierson discovered how much meditation helped him, and how he could use his business skills to help Puddicombe expand his practice.
Puddicombe and Pierson launched the Headspace app in 2010. It first provided users with ten minuteten-minute guided meditation exercises. –Now meditation and nowmindfulness exercises are available in a variety of lengths, with some available as short as one minute are available. They moved business operations from London to California in 2013 to suit their personal lifestyles. Puddicombe is the face of the brand and uses his own voice for the guided meditation exercises on the app. Headspace has partnered with hundreds of businesses to provide meditation tips and practices to employees.

Puddicombe and Pierson launched the Headspace app in 2010. It first provided users with ten minute guided meditation exercises – now exercises as short as one minute are available. They moved business operations from London to California in 2013 to suit their personal lifestyles. Puddicombe is the face of the brand and uses his own voice for the guided meditation exercises on the app. Headspace has partnered with hundreds of businesses to provide meditation tips and practices to employees.
In January 2021, Puddicombe's animated mini-series Headspace: Guide to Meditation premiered on Netflix. The show discusses the science behind meditation and its benefits. A sequel series was released in April 2021, Headspace: Guide to Sleep, which discusses sleep facts and myths, provides tips on sleeping well, and ties the topic into mindfulness and meditation. The third and final installment of the Headspace series was released in June 2021, Headspace: Unwind Your Mind.
In October 2021, Headspace coupled with the company Ginger to form Headspace Health, a company focused on bringing mental health care to employees with on-demand services including therapy, psychiatry, and behavioral health coaching.

Puddicombe was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2013. He has accredited meditation to helping him get through the stress of his diagnosis and treatment. At the very end of 2020, Puddicombe and his family moved from Los Angeles to Lisbon, Portugal.
