Andoni Zubizarreta Urreta is a former Spanish football player and businessperson. He was born on October 23, 1961, in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain. He is known as a goalkeeper and football functionary.
Throughout his career, Zubizarreta has received numerous awards and achievements. While playing for Athletic Bilbao, he won the Spanish Championship twice (1982/83, 1983/84), as well as the Spanish Cup (1983/84), and the Spanish Super Cup (1984). As a member of Barcelona, he achieved further success: winning the Spanish Championship four times (1990/91, 1991/92, 1992/93, 1993/94), the Spanish Cup twice (1987/88, 1989/90), the Spanish Super Cup twice (1991, 1992), the European Cup (1991/92), the Winners' Cup (1988/89), and the UEFA Super Cup (1992).
In addition to team awards, Zubizarreta has been honored with personal accolades, including being named Spanish Footballer of the Year in 1987 and winning both the Zamora Trophy in 1987 and setting a record for the number of matches in a row without substitutions—72 consecutive games.
