Via the utilization of an innovative and unique sensor technology integrated into military condition-based maintenance monitoring systems, our company proposes to assist the US Air Force to enhance its monitoring and modeling capabilities for the benefit of military assets corrosion analysis & maintenance. The AFRL states that “Knowing the concentrations of potential corrosive factors in a given area can give aircraft maintainers an advantage in understanding how to preventively treat and monitor aircraft and other assets that are based at a given location. Anticipating corrosive conditions before they can have a detrimental effect can lead to significant cost savings and less aircraft downtime”. It is critical that military hardware operates reliably, and the deterioration of assets due to corrosion necessitates a multi-dimensional approach. Achieving a well-balanced, cost-effective maintenance program is important operationally, and financially (across all military assets, the DoD Corrosion Policy & Oversight Office identifies that corrosion-related maintenance costs represent 40% of the entire defense system maintenance budget). Operations and maintenance tasks are very complex due to changing environmental conditions at different geographical locations and a significant issue is the ever-changing composition of environmental air pollutants, since this can have a significant localized impact upon maintenance protocols and procedures
