Altex Technologies Corporation SBIR Phase I Award, February 2019

Under the project Altex and Texas A&M University will develop a Portable Bi-functional Desalination (PBD) Device that removes salts and impurities from seawater and brackish water sources to produce drinking water at a rate of 1 liter/hour/Soldier up to a maximum of 9 people, with no need for any external power. Under Phase I, the technology will be demonstrated at bench scale and the results will be used to design the prototype desalination device, and compare its performance versus the Army requirements and specs. Also a cost/benefit analysis will be performed to demonstrate the feasibility of the PBD device. The Phase I will be the basis of a Phase I Option and Phase II for the development and construction of four useable prototypes.
