Alexandre Dumas was born on July 24, 1802, in Villers-Cotterêts, France. He was a French writer, best known for his historical novels and plays. Dumas' notable works include The Count of Monte Cristo, The Three Musketeers, The Vicomte of Bragelonne: Ten Years Later, Twenty Years After, La Dame de Monsoreau, and The Queen's Necklace. He was also the author of La Reine Margot and The Black Tulip.
Dumas was the founder of Château de Monte-Cristo and owned the property. He was a French citizen and his works were part of the literature and book industries. His father was Thomas-Alexandre Dumas and his child, Henry H. Bauer.
He passed away on December 5, 1870, in Dieppe, France.
