Alexander Mamut was born on January 29, 1960 in Moscow. The boy grew up in an intelligent Jewish family. His parents are successful lawyers. Father Leonid Solomonovich Mamut is known for being one of the drafters of the new Constitution of Russia. Mom Cecilia Ludvigovna, a successful lawyer.
