Alcorn State University

Alcorn State University is a public educational institute located in Lorman, Mississippi, United States. It was founded in 1871 and operates in the higher education, university, and historically black colleges and universities industries. The university has a motto, "Where Knowledge and Character Matter".

The university is accredited by several organizations, including the National Association of Schools of Music, the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, the American Dietetic Association, and the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education. Alcorn State University is affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association, the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, the National Athletic Association, Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning, and the Association of Public and Land.
