Akon

Akon, born Aliaune Damala Badara Akon Thiam on April 16, 1973, is an American and Senegalese singer-songwriter, musician, businessperson, and record producer. Known for his work in various music genres such as dancehall, contemporary R&B, hip hop music, and rhythm and blues, Akon has authored popular songs, including "Lonely," "Locked Up," "Ghetto," "Belly Dancer (Bananza)," "Smack That," "Pot of Gold," "Don't Matter," "Mama Africa," "I Wanna Love You," "I Can't Wait," "Sorry, Blame It on Me," "Right Now (Na Na Na)", "Beautiful," "We Don't Care," "I'm So Paid," "Hold My Hand," "Oh Africa," and "Angel".

Akon was born in St. Louis and holds citizenship in both the United States and Senegal. He is the son of Mor Thiam, a prominent Senegalese percussionist. Akon attended Clark Atlanta Universityand William L. Dickinson High School.

In addition to his success in the music industry, Akon has also ventured into the entertainment industry as an entrepreneur, actor, songwriter, and singer.
