Adolfo Bioy Casares (September 15, 1914 - March 8, 1999) was an Argentine writer, journalist, screenwriter, editor, poet, critic, and librarian. He was born in Recoleta, Buenos Aires, Argentina and was educated at the University of Buenos Aires. Bioy Casares gained notability through his work "The Invention of Morel" (La invención de Morel).
Throughout his career, Bioy Casares wrote numerous works, including "La trama celeste" and "El héroe de las mujeres". Apart from writing, he also worked as a translator.
Adolfo Bioy Casares was married to Silvina Ocampo and had two children, Marta Bioy Ocampo and Fabián Bioy. He was the child of Marta Ignacia Casares Lynch and Adolfo Bioy Domecq. Bioy Casares held Argentine nationality.
In his lifetime, Adolfo Bioy Casares was awarded the prestigious Miguel de Cervantes Prize. He passed away in Buenos Aires on March 8, 1999.
