Addy is an engineering manager working on Google Chrome. He has contributed to a number of efforts to make the web fast. Addy is the author of several open-source software projects, such as TodoMVC, Speedometer 2, Yeoman and early versions of Material Design for Web components. He is also the author of books such as Learning JavaScript Design Patterns and Image Optimization. He is the co-author of Learning Patterns with Lydia Hallie.

Career

Addy joined Google in 2012, and leads several of Google Chrome's developer experience and performance efforts. These include native image-lazy loading. The tools he has led include projects such as Lighthouse and PageSpeed Insights. He has also worked on Google search initiatives, such as user-experience signals for ranking (Core Web Vitals, Page Experience). He has collaborated with a number of sites on improving their speed over the years, including Pinterest, Twitter, Tinder, Netflix and eBay. He helped fostered a culture of browsers working more closely with JavaScript frameworks, such as React and Angular, via engineering collaborations like Aurora.
