A SBIR Phase II contract was awarded to ATTOLLO ENGINEERING, LLC in July, 2019 for $703,581.8 USD from the U.S. Department of Defense and United States Army.
Anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs) pose a significant threat to Army combat vehicles but sensors to detect them and pinpoint their origin are not sensitive enough and do not provide precision origin location information. The laser energy that impacts the ground vehicle is very low, making it both difficult to detect and find its origin. Attollo proposed to solve this problem by bringing to bear on it our recent advancement in the ability to detect and locate pulsed laser sources. This advancement is based on our experience in LIDAR/LADAR systems. The approach delivers a compact and inexpensive solution that offers detection sensitivities 30x lowers (below 0.36uW/cm2) simultaneously with 1 degree origin locating and a 100% probability of detection and 0% false alarm rate. Attollo’s solution is designed to achieve these results in the presence of full sun illumination while also accepting all wavelengths from 800-1100 nm and a notch from 1530 to 1580 nm in anticipation of additional applications for the system solution.
