The Stakeholder Access to Embedded System Models (SAESM) project will leverage Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems (CCSDS) Spacecraft Onboard Interface Services standard Electronic Data Sheet (SEDS) as a bridge to a vendor neutral model-based systems engineering (MBSE) analysis environment. SAESM supports generation of SEDS from existing models, e.g., models written in System Modeling Language (SysML) and Architecture Analysis and Design Language (AADL), ingestion of existing SEDS into the MBSE environment, and virtual integration into models from other sources. Virtual integration is a process of analyzing detailed models of embedded software systems to uncover errors primarily related to non-functional requirements such as timing, safety, and security.nbsp; These errors are generally not discovered until integration and test phases when costs to fix them are prohibitive. SAESM will enable multiple stakeholders to conduct these analyses without requiring expert knowledge of the underlying modeling language(s).nbsp; SAESM supports vendors by enabling them to support NASArsquo;s SEDS initiative using modeling languages they are already using, supports NASA personnel by automatically creating and maintaining SEDS, and supports all parties with virtual integration. This improves system capability by reducing risk of cost and schedule overruns due to late discovery of errors.
