Viktoria Postnikova

Biography

Victoria Postnikova is a talented Russian pianist, the second wife of Vladimir Spivakov, the widow of the famous composer and conductor Gennady Rozhdestvensky, the mother of violinist Alexander Rozhdestvensky.

Childhood and youth

Victoria devoted all her free time to music as a child, she lived by it. She was no longer interested in anything else, she was fascinated only by the piano. Victoria spent her entire childhood in Moscow.

Music

The pianist Postnikova was talked about in Europe after she became the winner of the prestigious Viana da Motta music Competition in Lisbon in 1968. Victoria then shared the championship with Azerbaijani musician Farhad Badalbeyli. In 1970, Postnikova's luck smiled again at the International Tchaikovsky Competition. Victoria was in third place among pianists.

Interestingly, Postnikova's future husband, Vladimir Spivakov, took second place at the same competition among violinists.

The reviews of a competent jury, awards and personal charm helped Victoria become a successful international-class pianist in the late sixties of the last century. In rare photos of that time, Postnikova is always surrounded by famous colleagues.

Natural data and filigree technique allowed Victoria to choose an interesting and complex repertoire for herself. Postnikova is a performer of piano works by Glinka and Tchaikovsky, Chopin and Janacek, Brahms and Richard Strauss, Bruckner and Sibelius.

The performance of romantic music most accurately reflects Victoria's talent. Thanks to Prokofiev's complex works, Postnikova can demonstrate excellent technique and artistic taste.

In the eighties, Victoria successfully performed Sergei Sergeevich's Symphony No. 5 accompanied by a Large Symphony Orchestra conducted by Gennady Rozhdestvensky. In 2014, together with her husband, Postnikova was on tour in Tallinn.
