Undagrid is a developer of an asset tracking technology for logistical processes, using internet of things (IoT) and providing an autonomous communication network to keep non-motorized objects or objects not connected to the power grid to trace these objects in an energy-efficient manner. The company's devices can automatically join or initiate a network without configuration, with the information from those device made available through open interfaces to easily exchange messages between them. The company's solution can connect airports, harbors, and other logistic centers and their assets in their network.
Undagrid is a company that participated in the Startupbootcamp Amsterdam / NFC & Contactless 03/01/14 cohort and raised an estimated $37,446. The company was founded in 2014 by Christiaan Willemsen, Lennart Schroer, Marcus Breekweg, and Rolf Velde and is headquartered in Enschede, Netherlands.
Unagrid offers various tools to help users create solutions for their platforms or capable of integrating with existing infrastructure. These include APIs to manage registration, deployment, and operation of devices at scale. As well as applications, devices, and algorithms to help users position and contextualize assets, integrate data, and visualize information.
Undagrid has a selection of applications that range from servicing airlines to managing high volume warehouses. This can help users to develop and digitize a process chain experience for different industries and for different complexities.
Undagrid's Trailblazer app offers users the ability to track assets in a warehouse or manufacturing facility, allowing for mass inventory digitization to help users find particular assets through the application. The application is capable of sharing the location of multiple assets to multiple devices, or to a single designated user, and is capable of determining the location of assets through a mobile device for both indoor and outdoor asset tracking, and even floor level. This can help users by navigating them towards any equipment or goods.
Undagrid's SOPHY app is developed for airlines and allows those airlines to get access to information necessary to improve efficiency, reduce costs, or enhance inflight product offerings. This includes offering operational and business information on their catering operations, including handover, cleaning, food quality, stock, and maintenance. And the app is built to integrate into existing operations for ease of deploy and use.
To help users to implement their solutions, Undagrid offers APIs and integration tools to allow users to schedule queries and transfer data from Undagrid to any IT or IoT platform. This allows for protocol integration with MQTT and REST, among other possible protocols. As well, the platform uses Auth0 for single sign-on, and has been integrated with SAP, IoT.nxt, AWS, INFORM, and Salesforce, among others.
The API also offers users a geolocalization engine developed by Undagrid that can be used for all major IoT products and platform. It is developed to be hardware and communications agnostic, to make the solution more attractive for end users. The engine is designed to process requests based on cellular IoT technologies, LoRa, WiFi, BLE, and sensor measurement data. Editable geofences or named areas can be used through the API as well. This offers users the following features:
- 3D seamless positioning, including height
- adaptive positioning by deductive layering
- no hardware or chipset lock-in
- designed for low-power IoT and edge use
- no GPS required
- compliant with GDPR
- public and private network integrations
- context-aware
- advanced anchor management
The company's BLE SDK is intended for developers to build mobile applications using Undagrid's IoT tools. The Bluetooth SDK handles communication with Undanet BLE node and networks around a smart device to act as a gateway to a back-end system. The Undanet devices can also decode encrypted Undanet broadcast data. These SDKs:
- are developed natively for both iOS and Android
- support Android 5.1 and higher
- support iOS 11 and higher
- proguard obfuscation in use for Android
- do not cause non-compliance of Apps with respect to Apple's and Google's acceptance criteria
- interact with permissions respective to the OS
- use minimal energy consumption on smart devices while supporting background scanning and connectivity
Undagrid has developed a series of devices in cooperation with other IoT hardware manufacturers, offering devices compatible with multi-RAT connectivity and architecture, such as LoRaWAN, NB.IoT, LTE-M, and BLE, and embedded software for ultra low-energy device performance. The company's selection of devices include a GSEtracker, the Nestor IoT product family, and Load Sensors for GSE.
The Undagrid devices are built to be hardware agnostic, with IoT devices able to benefit from solutions and experience of Undagrid. The devices are also built to offer easier device onboarding, and in the case of devices without a known communication infrastructure, Undagrid offers a cloud-to-cloud integration with the backend to allow those devices to begin communicating with each other.
