As of November 2022 over 800,000 pets are enrolled. In the US Trupanion policies are issued by the American Pet Insurance Company (APIC). Trupanion was originally founded in 1998 by Darryl Rawlings as Vetinsurance International. The company started in Canada, then expanded to the US in 2008. Rawlings serves as the company's CEO.
