Southern Research is an Alabama-based organization that specializes in drug development and discovery, medical equipment design, advanced engineering practices, and environmental protection measures. It has developed more than 20 drugs, seven of which are cancer drugs that are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Southern Research partnered with Tonix Pharmaceuticals where it would conduct tests on the various vaccine candidates that Tonix develops. A live horsepox virus vaccine for percutaneous administration has been developed and is being tested.
