In 1928 he graduated from the Kiev Polytechnic Institute. In 1928-1932 worked in the department of marine experimental aircraft construction in Moscow. In 1929, together with N. I. Kamov, he built the first autogyro KASKR-1 "Red Engineer" in the USSR, and in 1931 - its modification KASKR-2 [3]. In May 1931, the gyroplane was effectively demonstrated in flight over the Khodynka field to members of the government and representatives of the command of the Red Army Air Force [4].
In 1932-1940 worked at the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute; participated in the development of autogyros A-4, A-9, A-10, A-12.
Since 1947 - Deputy Chief Designer in the OKB A.S. Yakovlev, since 1957 - Chief Designer. Participated in the creation of the Yak-9, Yak-3, Yak-25 fighters, the Yak-100 helicopter; supervised design and research work on the Yak-24 helicopter, the largest in the world at that time.
He was buried at the Novodevichy Cemetery (5th school, 14th row.) [5].
