Shopify Inc. is a Canadian multinational e-commerce company headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario. It is also the name of its proprietary E-Commerce platform for online stores and retail point-of-sale systems. Shopify offers online retailers a suite of services including payments, marketing, shipping and customer engagement tools to simplify the process of running an online store for small merchants.

Shopify has two segments: subscription solutions (43% of fiscal 2018 revenue) and merchant solutions (57% of fiscal 2018 revenue). The subscription solutions segment allows Shopify merchants to conduct e-commerce on a variety of platforms, including the company's website, physical stores, pop-up stores, kiosks, social networks, and Amazon. Merchant solutions are add-on products for the platform that facilitate e-commerce and include Shopify Pay, Shopify Shipping, and Shopify Capital.

Shopify has said their platform was engineered for reliability and scale, making enterprise-level technology available to businesses of varying sizes.The company reported that it had more than 1,000,000 businesses, including brands such as Tesla, Red Bull, Nestle, GE and Kylie Cosmetics, in approximately 175 countries using its platform as of June 2019. They reported total gross merchandise volume exceeding $41.1 billion for the calendar year 2018.
