The OLX brand was founded in March 2006 by two entrepreneurs, Fabrice Grinda and Alexandro Oxenford. The company began active work in India: at that time, it was one of the most dynamic markets in the world. In 2010, OLX became part of the Naspers media group . In 2012, Martin Schipbauer (current CEO of OLX Group) joined the OLX team. In the same year, OLX received the status of the largest online ad resource in India , and a year later - in Brazil .
In April 2014, Naspers ' ad sites in Romania , Bulgaria , Kazakhstan , Belarus , Hungary and Poland changed their name to OLX. And in September, the Ukrainian advertising site Slando joined the OLX Group and also rebranded .
Since September 2015, the Ukrainian service has been part of the OLX Group's international network of advertising platforms, represented in more than 40 countries around the world.
The site provides a platform for online buying / selling of goods and services for both individuals and businesses. OLX.ua users can place their ads by pre-registering via mobile phone, e-mail or logging in through social network accounts. In the form of submission of the announcement it is necessary to add the description of the offer, photos and the contact data. It is also possible to respond to an already published ad by contacting its author via online chat on the site or by phone. By default, ads on OLX.ua are displayed by the date of their placement.
In the summer of 2013, the site launched mobile applications for Android and iOS devices. In 2018, the application had 10 million installations.
In May 2017, the site launched a delivery service. The service involves blocking money on the buyer's card and writing it off only after receiving the goods. The project was implemented with UAPAY and Nova Poshta . Analogues of the service operate on such global platforms as Ali Express, Amazon.com and eBay .
