Neo4j is a low-code, open-source graph library for building API-driven applications, founded by Emil Eifrem, Johan Svensson and Peter Neubauer. The San Mateo-headquartered company was founded in 2007 and hosts a database platform used by industry leaders including Airbus, Comcast, eBay, NASA, UBS and Walmart.
Neo4j provides business intelligence data alongside different graphing applications that can be accessed depending on the size, structure, and scale of an organization's needs.
The database stores data as interconnected nodes that are used to interpret individual data such as person, account number, company ID, or address. These linked nodes can be used in graphing to easily detect business insights and cost-saving opportunities; they can also be used to spot fraudulent activity, suspicious patterns, and money-sinks.
The company's Neo4j graph database is an ACID-compliant transactional database and has native graph processing and storage capabilities. Neo4j Aura was released in January 2021, offering a fully managed graph database cloud service.
