Chinese metaphysics

Quick introduction to Zhouyi, the first step is to understand "Yang Yao" and "Yin Yao".

1. Concept 1: Yao

There are two kinds of Yao, one is called Yang Yao, and the other is called Yin Yao. Yang Yao is represented by a long horizontal line: -, Yin Yao is represented by two short horizontal lines: - -

In Zhouyi, yang and yin are used to express the two abstract concepts of yin and yang. You don't need to think about yin and yang first, but regard them as two symbols, such as positive and negative signs. Yao is the basic element of hexagram.

2. Single hexagram

The composition of a single hexagram is very simple. It consists of three lines, and each line has two states: yang line and yin line, so there are a total of 2 to the third power, that is, eight single hexagrams. This is the gossip we often hear about. .

These gossips are: Gan, Dui, Li, Zhen, Xun, Kan, Gen, Kun.
