The company primarily serves the semiconductor, industrial, life and health sciences, and research and defense markets.

MKS Instruments delivers its products through the the following brands: MKS, Newport, Spectra-Physics, Ophir, and ESI.

History

Founded in 1961, MKS's first product was the Baratron Capacitance manometer that measured gas pressure within a semiconductor wafer fabrication chamber. MKS has grown to be a key supplier of critical instruments, subsystems, and systems for semiconductor and advanced Markets. Since 2001 the company has made over twenty acquisitions.
