Donatello (born 1386, Florence) was a prominent artist from the Republic of Florence, primarily known for his work in portrait, religious art, and equestrian portrait. He was also a painter as well as a sculptor, and he had instances of competition with other artists such as Raffaello Sanzio Morghen.
During his lifetime, Donatello created several notable works including 'David (Donatello)' and 'Zuccone'. He was born and raised in Florence, where he later passed away on December 13, 1466.
