Choix is a sexual and reproductive healthcare-focused telehealth clinic. Established in 2020 and headquartered in California, the online clinic offers their private services to women regardless of insurance or documentation status, in California, Illinois, Colorado and New Mexico.
The company's services include emergency contraception, abortion pills, genital herpes, cold sore treatment, hormonal birth control and UTI care.
Interested parties submit a questionnaire, the company reviews their medical history, and a provider checks in via text to confirm certain information and share consent forms. Medication arrives if there are no additional steps to be taken. The cost is $289, and it includes the initial consultation fee, the medications, follow-up visits, and shipping. Participants are required to be in the first ten weeks of pregnancy and be sixteen years or older if they reside in California. They must be eighteen and older if they reside in Colorado and Illinois.
Choix cofounder and CEO Cindy Adam said in an interview:
“The overturn of Roe and the nature of the restrictive laws that are already in place are designed to make people afraid to provide abortion care and to seek care, and we obviously consider these laws to be overreaching. Our goal is to work towards safe and equitable access for everyone in the states we serve, and as we grow, this will continue to be an uphill battle if Roe is overturned.”
