Benjamin Peirce

Benjamin Peirce (April 4, 1809 – October 6, 1880) was an American mathematician, statistician, and astronomer born in Salem, Massachusetts[(11166726)#place_of_birth][(6458712)#date_of_birth]. He was a citizen of the United States[(10228118)#country_of_citizenship] and died in Cambridge, Massachusetts[(8422802)#place_of_death][(6458713)#date_of_death]. Peirce was educated at Harvard University[(2231860)#educated_at], where he later became a professor. He had a son named Charles Sanders Peirce[(36305297)#father_of], who also became a prominent philosopher and logician.

Throughout his career, Benjamin Peirce made significant contributions to various fields such as mathematics[(2231857)#occupation], statistics[(2231859)#occupation], and astronomy[(2231858)#occupation]. One of his notable achievements was advising Nathaniel Bowditch during his studies[(36307095)#doctoral_advisor].
