Nathaniel Bowditch

Nathaniel Bowditch was an American mathematician, astronomer, actuary, physicist, sailor, and politician. He was born in Salem, Massachusetts, on March 26, 1773, and held citizenship in the United States. Bowditch was a multi-talented individual with varied occupations, ranging from his work as a mathematician to an astronomer, an actuary, a physicist, and a sailor.

In his personal life, Bowditch had two children: Nathaniel Bowditch and Henry Ingersoll Bowditch. He was also the child of another Nathaniel Bowditch. As a mentor, he had a doctoral student named Benjamin Peirce. Nathaniel Bowditch passed away in Boston on March 16, 1838.
