Childhood and youth

The boxer is a Chechen by nationality. Born in the first month of 1985 in Dagestan. Childhood and youth were spent in Khasavyurt. Artur Beterbiev took up sports as a child. The choice of boxing was not accidental, because the brothers visited the wrestling section every day. They were closely followed by the future world and European champion. At 11, Beterbiev Jr. came to the training not as a guest, but as a student. His sports biography is not a straight and smooth path. Arthur was periodically suspended from classes: the guy was reputed to be a "brawler" and did not bother with norms of behavior. At home, too, they were not particularly happy about the boy's hobby — he returned from training in tattered clothes. All these minor troubles did not knock the teenager off the chosen road. At first, he attended both sections - wrestling and boxing, splitting in his sympathies. But as a result, I chose boxing and did not change this sport anymore.

Arthur was decisively influenced by his older brother Abakar. Today he is an honored coach of Russia, among his students is Arthur himself. The father did not encourage the younger son's passion for sports, dreaming that he would get a higher education. But when the teenager turned 15 and won bronze at the World Championships in Baku, the pope changed his mind and gave his blessing. A few days later, the life of the head of the family was cut short by a plane crash.

Artur Beterbiev is a graduate of the Moscow School of Olympic Reserve. He received his higher education at the University of Physical Culture in Moscow.

Martial arts

With a height of 1.82 m, the boxer 's weight does not exceed 81 kg . In 2001, Arthur participated in major competitions for the first time — the World Cadet Championship. The third place spurred the guy's self-esteem and forced him to redouble his efforts. After 5 years, he was offered to sign a contract with the Ring Magnitogorsk club. Having signed, Beterbiev went to Magnitogorsk. In 2004 and 2005, the Chechen won bronze at the national championship, and in 2006 became the silver champion. A year later, Artur Beterbiev again had silver in his hands, but this time it was the World Championship. In the same 2007, the young athlete received the title of champion of the Russian Federation in the light heavyweight division, defeating a strong opponent Sergey Kovalev. In 2008, the Chechen participated in the first Olympic Games, losing in a qualifying fight to Chinese boxer Zhang Xiaoping. But in the Russian capital at the World Cup Beterbiev got gold. From that moment on, a series of "golden" victories follows in the Wolf's career: in 2009 - at the World Championship, in 2010 - at the European Championship. The fight with Alexander Usyk at the 2011 World Cup, where the Chechen lost to the Ukrainian, interrupted the list of victories. At the 2012 Olympic Games, Arthur won against Michael Hunter, but lost to the same Usyk. In 2013, Beterbiev signed a lucrative contract and moved to Canada. A year later, the Russian boxer had three regional titles on his account. In 2015, a change of manager followed, which led to proceedings in court. In 2017, the athlete won the first IBF title, and in February of the following year he signed a contract with the most respected promotion company Top Rank, whose fights are broadcast by the main TV channels of America. This was followed by brilliant victories over Tavoris Cloud and Jeff Page, the man sent his rivals into knockdowns. Beterbiev's knockout in the 12th round threw Enrico Kelling into the ring.In the fall of 2018, the boxer met in a duel with the Briton Callum Johnson. The fight took place in Chicago. The final point was set in the 4th round by Beterbiev, who knocked out an opponent from Foggy Albion.

Personal life

Artur Beterbiev is a family man. The boxer's personal life turned out well: his wife gave birth to four children, equally sons and daughters. But the athlete does not disclose the details of life outside the ring: there is no family photo on his Instagram page.Beterbiev and his wife and children live in Canada. The father does not want his sons to follow in his footsteps and become boxers, but he will not hinder their choice.Artur Beterbiev now

In the spring of 2019, the IBF champion entered the ring in Stockton, California, where he competed with Radivoye Karadzic. The white puncher defeated the Serbian in the 5th round, knocking Karadzic out.Beterbiev has a fight ahead with Ukrainian rival Alexander Gvozdik. Beterbiev and Gvozdik met in 2009 in Istanbul, where the Russian pulled out a victory by technical knockout. The boxers met for the second time 10 years later, in October 2019. Beterbiev won the fight again.
