Victory column
The Alexander Column, also sometimes called the Alexandrian Pillar of Alexandria, afteris based on A. S. Pushkin's poem "Monument". is anAn Empire-style monument located in the center of the Palace Square of St. Petersburg. It was erected in 1834 by architect Auguste Montferrand by decree of Emperor Nicholas I in memory of the victory of his elder brother Alexander I over Napoleon.
