Abgaryan Karlen Aramovich (4.9.1928, Amasya village, Armenian SSR - 4.2.1995, St. Petersburg), Soviet and Russian scientist in the field of dynamics of controlled systems, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (1987). He graduated from the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI, 1952), worked there (1953-77); in 1973-77 he was head of a department and Dean of Applied Mathematics Department of the MAI; Professor since 1968. 1977-79 Director of the Institute of Mechanics, Academy of Sciences of the Armenian SSR. 1979-86 Director of the Computing Center of Academy of Sciences of the Armenian SSR and lecturer in Yerevan State University. 1987-94 leading researcher at the MAI. Since 1989 - Director General of the Center of Automation of Control Processes in National Economy attached to Scientific Council of Complex Problem of Cybernetics of Russian Academy of Sciences.
Main works on theory of automatic control systems, theory of differential and integral-differential equations, methods of construction of dynamic characteristics of multidimensional nonstationary control systems. Member of the USSR National Committee on Automatic Control, Chairman of the Armenian Territorial Group (1983-86), member of the USSR National Committee on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (1987-92).
