3L Capital operates as a private equity firm and invests in consumer and enterprise-facing businesses that use software, technology and data to re-invent products and services. The company serves clients in California and New York. Founder Shawn Colo previously was CEO of Demand Media. Co-Founder Dave Leyrer is founder of Boulevard Capital Management.
In 2019 3L Capital raised $217 million equity fund to continue investing in local companies. Their spokeswoman stated that it was a “generalist fund” and that the money to invest in companies seeking Series B or later rounds regardless of industry. 3L has backed ChowNow, a Playa Vista-based online food ordering platform. After raising a $21 million Series C round in May 2019, Colo joined ChowNow’s board.
